Moth, wings spread tattoo design

Every tattoo image on this site is a generated illustration. None of it is work by this artist and none of it records a client result.

A moth seen from above with its wings spread wide and mirrored, four ringed eyespots, feathered antennae and dense stipple shading across the upper wings.
The dotwork moth tattooed across the lower front of the throat, wings reaching toward each side of the neck, on warm brown Filipino skin, cropped below the jaw.
The same design rendered on skin. Generated, not a client and not healed work.

The name goes into the enquiry for you. Say where it goes and how big, and the drawing comes back before anything is booked.

What it means

The moth reads as attraction to light and as change that costs something, a recent and fairly personal meaning rather than an old one. On the throat it has become a recognisable modern placement in its own right, partly because the moth's open wings fit the width of the neck.

The throat is one of the most visible places to be tattooed and one of the more sensitive, so it is worth being sure of the design first.
